What Does The Term 'Innovation' Mean?

      The word "Innovation" can be described in various definitions. It is neccessary to provide meaning of this term to students who are learning about "Innovation", particularly "Innovation in Education".
       First of all, the term "Innovation" must be defined. "Innovation" can be explained in different ways as follows: First, "Innovation" can be defined as
        "...an idea, practice, or object perceived as new by an individual or community.' Basically the word Innovation means, 1.The process of making improvements by the introduction of something new, which can be a new idea, method or device 2. The successful exploitation of new ideas or changes that creates a new dimension of performance is innovation. 3.The idea or the thing may not be new, it is perceived as new or modifying inventions or ideas even better is innovation. We can understand innovation by this example, the phone is invention and mobile or wireless phones are its innovation, here mobile and wireless phones are more improved and advanced form of phone and its innovation. We have phone for communication, it was the reason for its invention, and we communicate on phone by talking, now we have a lot of services on phone, i.e. Mobile or wireless, for communication like sms, mms, voice mail etc. Now here talking on phone is invention further more services are innovations. Providing new services on phone is a new idea which is innovation. In short making an invention even better or developed or advanced is innovation". (http://www.blurtit.com/q701621.html)
       Second, "Innovation"
      "... means something newly introduced. To begin or to introduce as for the first time. It can also be described as making or starting some new trend, setting some new passions. Those will all be innovations. To create a new idea can also be described as an innovation regardless of whether the specific idea which has been created is sound or not. Is it logical or not?"

       Third, "Innovation" can be described as
        "...'An idea, practice, or object perceived as new by an individual.' Basically the word "Innovation" means the process of making development by introducing something new, such as the introduction of something new like a product, a method, device or the successful exploitation of any idea being launched for the very first time or any change that creates a new dimension. The ideas or the things may not be new, innovation is perceived as the recent or modifying developments in inventions or ideas.We can understand innovation by this example that, phone is an invention and mobile or wireless phone is its innovation, here mobile and wireless phone is more improved and advance form of phone and its innovation. We have phone and mobiles which are for the use of same purpose and that is communication, but the mobile phone come up with an innovation of added services or added features like sms, mms, voice mail etc. The invention and then the innovation to the same invention is clearly and comprehensively explained by the above example. In short, making an invention, some how, better, developed or advanced is known as innovation".

"Innovation ", thus, might have been concluded as idea, process, modifying invention or practices perceived as new and are introduced for the first time.
